CCTV Camera & Remote Monitoring
Monitoring turns recorded video into an operating process. The useful questions are not only whether a camera captured an event, but which events should notify someone, who receives them, what footage is retained, and how the system reports a failed camera or full disk.
We configure local 4K/NVR systems for self-monitoring and can coordinate compatible event feeds with a separate professional monitoring provider. Analytics are treated as filters, not proof: person, vehicle, line-crossing, and license-plate tools depend on scene geometry, light, shutter behavior, and clear operating rules.
What we deliver
- Monitoring plan that assigns event types, schedules, recipients, escalation paths, and acknowledgment responsibilities
- Person, vehicle, intrusion-zone, and line-crossing analytics tuned per camera instead of globally enabled defaults
- Driveway license-plate views engineered separately from general overview cameras when identification is required
- Local NVR retention calculated from camera count, resolution, codec, frame rate, recording mode, and storage overhead
- Encrypted remote viewing through supported applications or private access paths without direct NVR port forwarding
- Camera-offline, recording-failure, disk-health, time-sync, and storage-capacity alerts enabled where the platform supports them
- Privacy masks and excluded analytics zones for neighboring windows, sidewalks, vegetation, reflective surfaces, and busy roads
- Optional export or event integration coordinated with a separate central-station provider after compatibility review
- Documented evidence export procedure preserving native clips, timestamps, camera identity, and a separate working copy
How we approach it
We review existing camera views by purpose: overview, detection, recognition, or identification. For each scene we document lighting transitions, target direction, likely speed, occlusion, neighboring property, and the action expected after an alert. Storage assumptions and retention priorities are calculated explicitly. If professional monitoring is requested, the selected provider confirms accepted platforms, event formats, site procedures, and service terms before integration work begins.
Analytics are tuned camera by camera using minimum target size, dwell, direction, schedules, and exclusion zones appropriate to the scene. We configure user roles, notification groups, health alerts, retention behavior, time synchronization, and encrypted remote access. Plate capture receives a dedicated exposure and field-of-view review; it is not presented as a feature that can be added reliably to any wide-angle driveway image through software alone.
Where monitoring reveals a coverage or storage gap, supported cameras, NVR capacity, UPS protection, or network links are added to the documented design. Cameras use wired PoE home runs where practical, and recording traffic is separated from general client traffic as the platform allows.
We stage representative daytime and nighttime events across each analytic boundary, then review detection, clip lead-in, notification routing, and playback rather than relying on a green status icon. Camera disconnect and storage warnings are induced safely where possible. Remote access is checked from outside the home network, sample evidence is exported and replayed on a separate device, and any plate view is evaluated across realistic approach positions without claiming universal reads.
Frequently asked questions
Is professional monitoring required for a CCTV system?
No. A local NVR can notify designated residents directly and retain footage without a professional monitoring subscription. Central-station service is a separate option for compatible systems when an independent operator and defined escalation process are desired. The provider—not GGIS—sets its service terms and dispatch procedures, so those details are reviewed directly before integration.
How much NVR retention should be configured?
Retention is a design output, not a universal number. Camera count, resolution, codec, frame rate, scene motion, continuous versus event recording, and usable disk capacity all change the result. We model those inputs, reserve operational overhead, and prioritize critical views if storage is constrained. Actual consumption is then checked after the system has observed representative activity.
Can an overview camera reliably read license plates?
Usually not across all conditions. Plate capture benefits from a constrained field of view, favorable angle, sufficient pixel density, controlled exposure, and shutter settings that handle vehicle motion and reflective plates. A dedicated plate view is often paired with a separate overview camera because settings optimized for plates may make people, vehicle color, or the surrounding scene less useful.
How are false alerts reduced without missing important activity?
We begin with camera placement and scene purpose, then apply object class, direction, dwell, target size, schedule, and exclusion zones. Vegetation, headlights, shadows, insects, and public sidewalks are common sources of noise. Analytics still have limits, so tuning is iterative and high-consequence actions should require human verification rather than treating one software classification as definitive.
