A reliable RadioRA 3 system begins with an accurate load schedule and a deliberate device hierarchy. Programming should follow the way occupants use the space, not simply mirror a list of dimmers.
Prepare the design
Record each load's location, fixture type, wattage, control method, and compatible dimming requirements. Confirm neutral availability and device ratings before hardware is assigned, and place the processor within the manufacturer's RF coverage guidance.
- Use consistent room, area, device, and keypad-button names.
- Separate switched, forward-phase, reverse-phase, and 0–10 V loads correctly.
- Coordinate line-voltage device installation with a licensed C-10 electrical partner.
Build scenes around behavior
Program keypad buttons as clear scenes such as Welcome, Entertain, Path, and All Off. Set intentional fade times, verify LED logic, and avoid buttons that produce different outcomes depending on an undocumented state.
- Include only the loads needed for each scene.
- Use occupancy and vacancy behavior appropriate to the room.
- Review schedules, timeclock events, and sensor timeouts with the owner.
Commission and hand off
Activate and test one area at a time, then walk every keypad and automated event. Save a dated project backup, record processor and integration details securely, and provide the owner with a concise scene schedule.
Field Note from GGIS
Before tuning scenes, operate every load locally through its full range. Flicker, dropout, or failure to turn fully off is a load-compatibility issue to resolve before programming.
